埃琳娜Deanda-Camacho is a Professor of Spanish and Black Studies, and the Director 的 黑人研究项目 在海洋之神590网址. She received her BA from the University of Veracruz, 墨西哥, and her PhD from Vanderbilt University. Besides literature, she has studied philosophy, religion, and medieval studies in 墨西哥, France, and the USA.
 

Deanda specializes in early modern Spanish literature with an emphasis in the Spanish 启蒙运动与墨西哥殖民地. Her research moves between medieval women’s theology and prostitution in the eighteenth century. 她的学术研究和教学实践 interrogates questions about gender, race, and ethnicity; desire, sex, and love; inquisitorial 审查制度和言论自由.

She has published in academic journals in the United States, Canada, 墨西哥, Spain, 德国,法国和英国. Her work has been funded by the Mellon Foundation, the Spanish ministries of 文化, Science, and Innovation, the North American Association of Modern Languages, the Association for the Studies of Eighteenth-Century Studies, the National Fund for 文化 and the Arts of 墨西哥, and the government of Veracruz. 
 
她2022年的专著 Offensive to pious ears, Obscenity and censorship in eighteenth-century poetry in 西班牙和新西班牙 (Iberoamericana/Vervuert) won the 2023 Prize for the Best Monograph given by the Spanish 18岁社团th 世纪研究(SESXVIII). 她的第二部专著 Trovar: Metapoetics of Occitania and Sotavento 将 be published in 2023 by the University of Veracruz.
